Watch Neil DeGrasse Tyson Talk To This Little Girl About Dyslexia

Neil deGrasse Tyson is the best. Sometimes he ruins explains the plot of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice a little too well, but no matter. When it comes to science and education, he’s the best ally to have on your side. Tyson proved this particular character when a little girl named Lois asked him whether or not there were people in his field with dyslexia.

According to YouTuber Tanya Buckingham:

Lois (8) asks Neil deGrasse Tyson about dyslexia in the field of astrophysics. The response of the people who approached her following her question was heartwarming. Thanks, NDT for inspiring so many.

In addition to dyslexia, Tyson identifies several other mental and learning disabilities that many of his colleagues struggle with — everything from dyscalculia (dyslexia with numerals) to A.D.D. Not just that, but he makes a point of suggesting many of his chosen field’s predecessors and founders experienced similar conditions, too.

Moral of the story? The majority of people struggle with certain kinds of handicaps of all shapes and sizes, but one thing that scientists are very good at is using their time wisely. He never downplays how much of a struggle it can be, but he definitely plants some serious knowledge power in little Lois.
