Knicks Fans Reacted With Joy When Phil Jackson Left The Team

Phil Jackson is no longer a president of the New York Knicks. Jackson and the team announced on Wednesday morning that the two officially parted ways after three disappointing seasons in which the Knicks failed to make the playoffs and Jackson essentially alienated every meaningful member of the team.

Jackson’s rumored departure leaked late Tuesday night and by Wednesday morning Knicks fans were thrilled with the news, taking to social media to give Jackson one last roast before he goes off on his own into the sunset.

There was also quite a bit of dancing.

Perhaps the biggest winner in all this is Carmelo Anthony, who essentially is the victor in a power struggle with Jackson that came to a head when Phil said Anthony would be better off elsewhere and tried to do everything to get him off the team. Not anymore, though.

Many people used Anthony to show their mutual joy.

At the end, Jackson even explored trading Kristaps Porzingis. Some wondered if that was a bridge too far for Knicks owner James Dolan.

Others speculated about what happened to finally get rid of Phil. Some speculated a musical rift had emerged between Jackson and Dolan.

Either way, perhaps it’s time to leave the triangle behind for good in New York.

The most joyous reaction thus far has come from longtime Knicks fan Spike Lee.

Still, it’s not exactly like Jackson made off terribly here. He got a significant payday, and he’ll have so much more time to Tweet now.

And many pointed out that the problem may not be Jackson, but the owner himself.

Unfortunately for Knicks fans, it’s still Dolan’s team from here on out.

Still, there are few, if any, Knicks fans who are mourning the loss of Phil Jackson today.

Go hug your Knicks fan friend today. It’s finally over.
