WARNING: Heavy Game of Thrones spoilers will be found below.
Even though no one could see much of what happened in the latest Game of Thrones episode, a handful of significant deaths were visible to the naked eye. Two of them resonated greatly with fans, given that they both hailed from the Mormont family and happened to be badasses for different reasons. Both Lyanna and Jorah died while bravely making their respective stands — with the Lady of Bear Island being crushed while stabbing a zombie giant’s eye and the Mother of Dragons’ advisor losing his life while basically acting as a human shield. Man, they took out the toughest tween in Westeros and the guy who survived greyscale in one episode? That’s harsh.
Both characters are being mourned heavily on social media, of course. Ser Jorah shall be remembered for his ceaseless bravery and selflessness while serving Daenerys Targaryen. Yes, he died while doing what he wanted to do, but his passing still hit hard. Even after Dany replaced him a few seasons ago (with Tyrion, who became the queen’s hand), he never wavered in his love and determination, and in the end, Jorah sacrificed his life for his queen.

A true knight is gone. Ser Jorah Mormont was a true knight. A knight who came to serve but not to be served,to give and not take. #GameofThrones pic.twitter.com/X9ngapuYd0

Meanwhile, everyone damn well knew that Lyanna was nearly the toughest fighter at Winterfell and honored her as such. She killed her last foe with her dying breath, and oh boy, it was heartbreaking to see her eyes turn blue with reanimation, even if that only lasted for a few minutes. Yes, Arya pulled off the episode’s most important kill, but Lyanna singlehandedly saved Winterfell from a giant. She shall be sorely missed.

Pour one out for Lyanna Mormont. She went out like a warrior. Took on a freaking undead giant and killed him by stabbing him in his big blue eye. She was the toughest 13 year old, ever.#gameofthrones pic.twitter.com/MvjNx0PfQz
