Watch Robert De Niro’s Raw, Fierce Denunciation Of Trump: ‘I’d Like To Punch Him In The Face’

Donald Trump’s current scandal, which stems from his enormously lewd comments about women, will likely swallow the entirety of the weekend and upcoming debate. Before that eventful footage leaked, however, the legendary Robert de Niro did everything he could to convince America not to elect the real estate mogul. In this gripping video, which was originally filmed as part of the “Get Out The Vote” campaign, de Niro will take you back to his old school days. You’ll forget all about those dreadful Ben Stiller movies (and even Bad Grandpa). Indeed, you’ll be reminded of Taxi Driver‘s Travis Bickle when de Niro says he wants to punch Donald Trump in the face.

This clip, which the campaign left on the cutting room floor because it was so damn fierce (and too much for the campaign’s non-partisan model), features de Niro airing his unfiltered thoughts on the Republican nominee:

“He’s a punk, he’s a dog, he’s a pig, he’s a con, a bullshit artist. A mutt who doesn’t know what he’s talking about, doesn’t do his homework, doesn’t care, thinks he’s gaming society, doesn’t pay his taxes. He talks how he’d like to punch people in the face? Well, I’d like to punch him in the face.”

De Niro’s impassioned condemnation first surfaced on The Kelly File, where host Megyn Kelly speculated upon its potential effects on the Trump campaign. Political adviser Mark McKinnon, who served under George W. Bush, points out how the unadulterated nature of the ad is reminiscent of Trump’s style of speaking. Ultimately, McKinnon doesn’t believe the clip will sway Trump supporters who stand firm, since de Niro’s never made a secret of his liberal ways, but he does pack a powerful punch.
