With a movie about undead policeman with an acronym title not only bombing but sucking, this weekend and the lead up to it offered the temptation of that perfect, once-in-a-lifetime apt acronym description, the siren song of which was just too much for most news outlets to resist. R.I.P.D. is D.O.A., they all said. FilmDrunkard Jordan Dobbs Rosa started compiling this gallery on Friday, and today only brought a deluge more. Not since Thor came out has a headline pun been so obvious and ripe for the picking.
So here it is, your incomplete guide to ‘R.I.P.D. is D.O.A.’ headlines. It’s no “sh_t sandwich,” but it’ll do. I say incomplete because there were three more pages of Google results I didn’t even get to. Seriously.

I’m sure the review is great, and I don’t necessarily blame him for going with the obvious headline (he may not have even written it himself), but it’s worth noting that Wesley Morris has a Pulitzer. This proves no one is immune to the pull of a great pun.

Whatever, bro, Jonah Hex was a beautiful disaster.

A few outlets spelled out “dead on arrival.” I guess they’re not into that whole brevity thing.

Ooh, ALMOST dead on arrival. Sounds like someone was feeling generous.
