Ryan Reynolds Says He’s Done With Superheroes After ‘Deadpool’

Ryan Reynolds is coming to San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, but, in the meantime, he’s been giving numerous interviews about Deadpool, Deadpool, and some other movie or whatever. In the interview above with HuffPo, Reynolds talks about visiting with Make A Wish Foundation kids in costume as Deadpool, a fellow superhero living with cancer, and he talks about preferring Deadpool to Green Lantern in part because he’s wearing a real costume instead of a weird mo-cap suit. As he’s been saying in several interviews lately, he didn’t even know what his suit in Green Lantern was supposed to look like until the first trailer came out.

Perhaps some of those issues with Green Lantern explain why Reynolds is now saying Deadpool (and any sequels to it) is the last punch on his superhero card. He starts talking about that two and a half minutes into the video when he’s asked if he wants to be Batman. He answers, “God no.” He followed that up with an explanation and not-so-subtle hint about how we could get a Deadpool sequel:

“We all want to be Batman alone at home in our specifically-sewn Bat pajammies, but no, I have no desire to play any other superheroes after this. Hopefully we’ll get to do Deadpool again. Given the fact that it’s rated R, the fans have to show their support for it, and they have to come out and make it worthwhile for the studio to make another one, but that’s it for me. I’ve punched that superhero card a few times now, and that’s enough.”

We’re still holding out hope he reprises his role as that classic Sesame Street superhero, the Giant A-Hole.
