For a few seconds at the start of 2016, it looked like Conor McGregor might start to make the same transition from UFC to Hollywood that Ronda Rousey has. Vin Diesel booked him to co-star in his next ridiculous XXX action flick, and Conor said he was “interested in seeing where this movie stuff goes.”
But then the Nate Diaz loss happened, and McGregor decided to pull out of XXX to concentrate on his fighting empire. But that hasn’t stopped Vin from trying to stack his movie with mixed martial artists. And now another UFC fighter has landed McGregor’s old role: Michael Bisping.
While he’s not quite the superstar McGregor is, Bisping is probably the second biggest fighter in Europe after him. Plus with his creepy eye and scarred up face (thanks, Anderson Silva!), he’s totally worthy of being cast as a Bond villain’s henchman.
What’s up with that cheap image Bisping used for the announcement, though? I like to imagine it’s what Vin Diesel sent him when they were discussing the role. All the early graphic design for Diesel projects tend to be handled by the fan-mily that runs Vin’s Facebook page. Keep up the good work, guys and girls.
