Do any of you guys watch the WrestleMania Today shows during WrestleMania weekend on the WWE Network? You should. They’re treasure troves of great moments, especially with Booker T in front of a live mic for long enough. Last year, he talked about going to visit Mama Shango to help him beat The Undertaker. You can only ask guys to fake analyze a scripted drama for so long before they go off the rails to something genuinely entertaining.
Yesterday, the panel invited Ric Flair with a live microphone to talk about Sting vs. Triple H, and he basically destroyed all the fake history WWE has spent the last six months creating. When Cole started to talk about Sting not wrestling for 14 years (because nobody acknowledges TNA), Flair fired back and talked about what has actually been going on during that time.
Michael Cole: You make a good point on Triple H, but what about Sting? He hasn’t been in the ring for how long?
Ric Flair: See, you’re wrong about that. He may have been on a limited schedule. Sting was in the ring once a week for the past 10 years. Book, you were down there with him for a little bit.
Booker T: *tries to change the subject*
Ric Flair: He didn’t wrestle guys like me and Booker, but he was in the ring.
This is what happens when you try to have a legitimate analysis show, but ask guys to only talk about fake information. Someone is bound to forget the narrative and talk about actual real life things. In this case, Flair reminded us that Sting has been an active wrestler for years since WCW died. Sure, there’s probably someone pissed that this ruins Sting’s mystique or something, but I’m happy that someone is treating us like we have decent memories and Google.
The next beautiful tidbit came when Flair inadvertently buried Triple H when asked to predict the match outcome:
Triple H has lost to Undertaker. He lost to Undertaker. He lost to Daniel Bryan. Triple H is not going down on Sunday. I don’t care if Stephanie has to come up from the ring with a sledgehammer. He’s not losing four WrestleManias in a row. That would affect his legacy, and I’d be on his butt.
Seriously, just tune in to this show. Right after Flair left, Mizdow made a bunch of limp d*ck jokes about Miz, and I have no clue why.
