It’s been a while since we’ve started off SNX with a rant. So… here’s one! Actually, more of a mini-rant, but definitely something we need to get off the chest: Ye, you have to stop. Seriously. Nobody can afford all of these Yeezys and frankly, it’s getting exhausting covering colorway after colorway of essentially the same shoe. Do something different or we reserve the right to ignore the — we assume — countless YEEZY drops we’re going to receive in July.
Unless of course, they’re dope. In which case we’ll talk about them… but begrudgingly!
YEEZYs aside, we’ve got a dope lineup of sneaker releases this week — with some brand new brands hitting the SNX weekly list. Plus the highly anticipated summer VaporMax 2019 drop. Summer has been one hell of a season so far in terms of great sneaker drops, but keep in mind we haven’t even technically begun yet. Shop carefully, there’s more in store!
Here are the best shoes out this week, let’s go.
Undercover Nike Daybreak WMNS
We don’t know how many times we have to say this Nike: if you want to sell more shoes, release all of your designs (including colorways) in WMNS and MENS sizes. The new Nike Daybreak was made in collaboration with Jun Takahashi’s Undercover label and attempts to infuse the classic 80s running silhouette with a futuristic twist thanks to the speckled midsole and extended heel clip.
We’re all about this mixed green, red, and white colorway but if you’re not into the whole Santa’s helper look, they’ll also be dropping in a clean black colorway. Taking a closer look, the black colorway has midnight blue speckles and that small detail alone is enough to go back and forth about which is better. You decide!
The Undercover Nike Daybreak is set to drop on June 21st at 7 am local time. Pick up a pair at Nike’s online store where they retail for $160.
Adidas Silverbirch Spezial
Named for world-renowned Adidas collector Robert Brooks, in reference to the area of London where he grew up, the Silverbirch Spezial comes as part of Adidas second drop in their Original collector series. Based on the Adidas Denver silhouette, the Silverbirch is simply impossible to look past thanks to the sneaker’s light blue and orange accented colorway.
Featuring a leather upper, leather lining, and mesh overlays, the Silverbirch comes sports white three-stripes accented with a flattering touch of orange, atop an LA-trainer sourced rubber outsole for extra running support. But we can’t imagine ever running in these, they’re just too damn pretty.
The Adidas Silverbirch Spezial is set to drop on June 21st and will retail for $120. Pick up a pair at the Adidas online store or select Adidas retailers.
YEEZY Boost 350 V2 Antlia/Synth
Okay, you’re probably here for clarification on what is going on with the latest YEEZY drop. Three new region-exclusive colorways of the 350 V2 are hitting the market and the release dates are all over the place. The Antlia, which is dropping this week in the European market, features a bright yellow-toned outer with a translucent side stripe, Boost midsole, and a gum outsole. As far as YEEZYs go, these small changes are the biggest we’ve seen to the 350s all summer, which isn’t saying much.
If you aren’t loving these, the Boost 350 V2s will also drop in a pinkish Synth colorway for the African market, as well as the more grey and subdued Lundmark colorway which is set to drop later in July.
The Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Antila and Synth colorways are set to drop on June 21st in their respective regions and will retail for around $219. Pick up a pair at aftermarket sites like StockX or try Sneakersnstuff when they drop.
Sneaker Politics Cafe du Monde Saucony Shadow 5000
The Shadow 5000 is inspired by the famous beignets at New Orleans’ Cafe du Monde — essentially donut holes — complete with a three-town brown suede, leather, and mesh upper accented with flecks of white to resemble the powdered sugar dusting that goes on a beignet. This is the first time we’ve ever called a shoe delicious. The Shadow 5000 will even come in a Cafe du Monde replica Beignet Mix box, who knew we’d love food-collaboration shoes so much!
The Sneaker Politics Cafe du Monde Saucony Shadow 5000’s are set to drop on June 22nd and will retail for $120. Pick up a pair at the Sneaker Politics online store or the physical store in NOLA.
Nike Air VaporMax 2019 — Moon
This was a tough one, the Nike Air VaporMax 2019 drop released in over 13 different colorways and they all have their merits, so which three should I choose to focus on? Too hard, so I had to pick a favorite out of the 13, which was still a task in itself. I went with the Moon Particle/Pumice/Firewood Orange/Anthracite colorway because I’m a real sucker for anything that makes me think of space, and this is the sneaker that I hope astronauts in the future wear.
The Nike Air VaporMax was specially designed to be functional as running shoes but they look so damn stylish that they’ve been adopted by hypebeasts everywhere. Sporting flexible air cushioning and a stretch woven lightweight upper, the VaporMax has the unique ability to make your foot feel secure while being so light that you almost feel barefoot. The cushioning of the VaporMax is targeted only where a foot might need support, this helps to keep it flexible and the midfoot cage makes up for any stability lost.
The full Nike Air VaporMax 2019 drop is available now with each pair retailing for $190. Get a full look at the collection and pick up a pair at Nike’s online store or select Nike retailers.
