Consoles, PCs, handhelds, Facebook, smartphones — the world of gaming is becoming increasingly confusing and fragmented, but don’t worry, we’re here to simplify things for you. Each week I’ll rattle off five games I think you might want to check out this week. Keep in mind, these articles aren’t meant to be comprehensive lists of everything coming out that week so much as a nice rounded tasting menu. So, let’s get to it…

This Week’s Weird Rambo Game

Rambo: The Video Game (PC, Xbox 360 & PS3 Feb. 21st)

Yes, that weird, obscure Rambo game you might not have even been aware of until I mentioned it just now is coming out this week. It might be terrible, and yet there’s something compelling about it. I dunno. Whether or not the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions hit this week is…murky, but according to Steam it’s definitely hitting PC this week.

This Week’s Game For Our Valued Redneck Readers

Nascar 14 (PC, Xbox 360 & PS3, Feb. 18th)

If you’re the type who cares about Nascar games, I’m sure you already knew Nascar 14 was coming out this week and don’t need me to tell you any more about it.

This Week’s Old School Revival

Strider (PC, Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One & PS4, Feb. 19th)

This one’s a bit of a surprise! I was pretty excited when Capcom announced a new Strider last year, but then I sort of lost track of the game. Well, the new Strider it coming out this week! Whether or not it lives up to the past games in the series is yet to be seen, but this new Strider looks appropriately fast and smooth, and the soundtrack is rockin’, so I’m on board.

This Week’s Sequel To A Cult Classic

Earth Defense Force 2025 (Xbox 360 & PS3, Feb. 18th)

After a lengthy wait, Earth Defense Force 2025 finally arrives in North America! The game is a sequel to alien bug blasting cult classic Earth Defense Force 2017, and for the most part this new title delivers more of the same, with some new depth in the form of various classes with different abilities.

Pick of the Week

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Wii U, Feb. 21st)

Some were upset when it was revealed Retro Studios were working on another 2D Donkey Kong instead of, say, Star Fox or Metroid, but the fact is, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is looking pretty darn good. The visuals are even more lush than the last DK Country game, and the game adds some new tweaks and additions, like the ability to play as Dixie and Cranky Kong and the reintroduction of underwater gameplay. It’s not the game that’s going to save the Wii U, but it’s absolutely worth a look if you already own one.
