By now, you probably know that SMKA reels half the rappers at the A3C Hip-Hop Festival into Stankonia Studios for an annual compilation. Well, after another successful year of festivities in ATL, the production crew has released their third installment, aptly-titled The Hang Out: A3C Edition.
Aside from being laced with notable names and purposeful production, the project has an album feeling that isn’t found in most mixtapes – which says a lot considering the tape was made from impromptu song sessions that took place in a one week span. There are no throwaways. Whether you’re listening to a noticeably knocking track like Chuck Inglish’s “All Day All Night” or the atmospheric R&B excellence of Kelsey LU & Drey Skonie’s “Lay Me Down,” the tracklist provides variety that transitions seamlessly from beginning to end.
Some of these names might be new, but trust us when we say tha SMKA brings their best on this tape and the artists show off as a result. Hard work pays off and we’re lucky this tape is free.
