SAN DIEGO – Thought you’d seen the last of Indiana Jones on the big-screen? Not so fast.
Stopping by to chat with us at San Diego Comic-Con this afternoon, Harrison Ford said he’d be more than willing to come back for another go-round as the iconic archaeologist/adventurer – just so long as the story was right.
“Would I?” he asked rhetorically, cracking a smile. “Yeah, I would be happy to do another. If we came up with a good script, I’d be happy to do it.”
Of course, the real reason for Ford’s visit to the big pop-culture convention was not to talk about old franchises but to promote “Ender’s Game,” the suddenly-controversial adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s bestselling sci-fi novel. So is the “Star Wars” actor himself a fan of the genre?
“I just work here,” he quipped. “I don’t really care if…a movie’s about cowboys and Indians, or cops or robbers, or it takes place in space. I care about the human relationships, the emotional values, the ambition of the thing.”
So what made “Ender’s Game” the right project?
“I was appreciative of the group of skilled people that were brought together to make the movie,” he told me. “And I knew that there was an ambition to make a really good movie. …[with] a lot of moral themes. There was a question of using young people for warfare, in warfare, training them as warriors. …There are all kinds of issues of conscience and responsibility that are addressed.”
