Kanye West to perform at 2013 MTV VMAs

Kanye West hasn’t done many official tour or concert stops to promote his latest album “Yeezus,” but the rapper/producer has signed on to at least take the stage at the MTV VMAs this year.

In a post, MTV announced the move, noting that Yeezy will be performing his single “Black Skinhead” at the ceremony, which takes place on Aug. 25 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The network amplified its announcement with a picture of a Moonman, a CD copy of “Yeezus,” the Brooklyn Bridge and a pile of croissants — as in the “hurry up with my damn croissants” lyric from “I Am a God.”

West’s first time on the program was all the way back in 2004; he last took the VMAs stage in 2011 with Jay-Z as Watch The Throne.

“Black Skinhead” was only recently added at radio, after West vehemently made a point of not shopping a “traditional” single to promote his No. 1 album. West also released the music video to the song a couple of weeks ago.

Do you think he’ll bring dogs with him?

Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead the 2013 MTV VMAs nominations with six each. Lady Gaga is also on tap as a performer; it will be her live debut of new song “Applause.”
