Since 2008, Disney and Marvel Studios have been building to a monstrous climax that will begin with 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War I. The villainous Thanos has been positioned — much like in the comics — as the ultimate baddie, and with the Infinity Stones in play in just about every single Marvel film, we’ll finally get to see the conclusion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s primary narrative when the Avengers assemble for the third and fourth time, a decade after Iron Man first hit cinemas. (Part II of the saga will debut in May, 2019.)
With Marvel properties spanning various platforms like network television (Agent Carter, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), streaming (Jessica Jones, Daredevil), and film (Guardians of the Galaxy), one of the biggest questions on the minds’ of fanboys and girls is just who will show up to save the universe. Could we see Daredevil leap out of Hell’s Kitchen — and Netflix — onto the big screen? Is it possible that the Infinity War will force the Guardians of the Galaxy and, let’s say, Spider-Man to team up to take on Thanos and his minions?
The combinations of heroes and villains in the Marvel Universe are endless, and while we won’t be sure who will show up to do battle just yet, we certainly can hypothesize. Check out the video above for some strong possibilities on the characters you might see when Infinity War hits theaters in 2018.
