Avril Lavigne Died And Was Replaced By An Imposter, Claims Convincing Theory

It’s a conspiracy theory even Forrest MacNeil would think is insane: The original Avril Lavigne, the “Complicated” mall-punk herself, died in 2003, and the “Avril Lavigne” that we know and tolerate is an imposter, sent by the Canadians to break Chad Kroeger’s, and by proxy the world’s, heart.

Avril’s career can be divided into halves: The first half, with her 2002 debut album Let Go and its hit singles “Complicated” and “Sk8er Boi”; the second, everything since, including the cultural appropriation train wreck that is “Hello Kitty.” Noisey did some digging and discovered an explanation for what the hell happened: She died. The #facts can be found on a Brazilian Blogspot titled “Avril Lavigne died and was replaced,” as well as a message board that claims the original Avril “took her own life in 2003 shortly after her parents divorce and was replaced by a doppelganger who left several clues about the death of the original Avril Lavigne in the lyrics of her follow-up album.”

I’m listening…

Many fans accepted that Avr1l was gone after New Avril released her magnum opus The Best Damn Thing – but then again, it wasn’t like they had a choice. But I think that after nearly a decade of being lied to I have uncovered a shocking new secret. Avr1l is still alive. (Via)

More opuses should include the lyric, “And they come home smelling like their ex-girlfriend.” Anyway, the lie was exposed when New Avril, whose actual name is Melissa Vandella (she and Avr1l became friends), said she had Lyme disease, which left her “immobile in bed for nearly six months.” And yet, “what we believed to be New Avril was spotted buying cheese” when she claimed she was at home. HMMMMM. The clues were in front of us the entire time.

Look how awkward she gets when the host confronts her with the TRUTH.

Are you not a believer? Don’t be a h8er boi. Deep dive at Noisey.
