Every year, TIME picks one person as the most influential human on Earth and puts their mug on the cover of their magazine. The editors of the news magazine have revealed the 59 candidates for the honor and on the music side of things, they’ve selected some pretty big names.
Record-breaker Adele, #Squad leader Taylor Swift, meme king Drake and “Anaconda” activist Nicki Minaj made the shortlist for ‘Person Of The Year.’ TIME cited Adele’s massive success, Swift’s ever-growing influence, Drake’s headline-grabbing beef and chart-topping single, and Minaj’s openness about issues of race and gender as reasoning for their inclusion.
The musicians will face competition from politicians (Barack Obama, Narendra Modi), athletes (Serena Williams, Carli Lloyd), mouth-breathers (Kim Davis, Donald Trump) and a horse (American Pharaoh). Of course, that rumored “Hotline Bling” remix could help both Adele and Drake’s chances.
Though the editors will make the final decision, readers are allowed to vote on who they think they should win until December 4. Good luck to anyone trying to choose between Kim Kardashian West and Refugees.
TIME will reveal the winner of the yearly title on December 7.
