Ron Artest Is Saving The World

We’re usually quick to make fun of athletes who get reality shows because, well, they’re usually terrible. The T.O. Show, T. Ocho, Primetime Love, Bonds on Bonds, Khloe & Lamar, Age of Love, The Bachelor, Surreal Life, and whatever the hell Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries are going to call the show about their fake engagement are all examples of people who are so desperate for fame and attention that they’ll shamelessly whore themselves out and waive their dignity. So how should we feel when we hear that Ron Artest has a reality show in the works? Yeah, I smiled, too.

Artest — who is no stranger to getting second chances — will mentor a group of parolees for a show called, “Last Second Shot.”

Ron Ron will work with a team of mental health experts and life coaches to help the parolees take control of their lives while teaching them life lessons through basketball.

“We’re gonna put them through an intensive experience,” Ron says … adding, “Give them hope and confidence to change their lives.”

We’re told the production company, 44 Blue Productions, hasn’t pitched the show to any networks yet … but they’re “very high on it.” (TMZ)

Wow, that is going to be absolutely… generous, mature and incredibly selfless. Of course, we can hold on to that stereotype that Artest is insane and violent, and we can easily disregard his acceptance of the 2011 J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award or we could just forget that only a few days ago he was actually the voice of reason in breaking up a domestic altercation outside of a Los Angeles night club.

But it looks like the NBA’s favorite crazy man has grown up, or maybe he’s just found a way to channel that insanity and use it for good. Either way, I hope this show is picked up and gets a chance. Because it will give us something to feel good about before it’s canceled for La La’s Full Court Divorce Hearing.
