Conor Gillaspie and Avisail Garcia (and Josh Wilson, technically) turned one of the weirdest double plays you’ve ever seen in a Cactus League game between the Chicago White Sox and the Texas Rangers.

It starts as a 5-6-3 double play on a shift … the shortstop covers second base and, though some combination of blind luck and ultimate H-O-R-S-E skills, ricochets the throw off the runner’s hand to get the runner at first. It’s like the double play version of Equilibrium. BALL KATA!

They couldn’t do it again in a thousand tries, but here’s the one that worked by accident:
