Astros Pitcher Lance McCullers, Jr. Wore Batman Cleats For His MLB Debut

Unless you’re a hardcore baseball fan, you’ve probably never heard of Astros pitcher Lance McCullers, Jr. The 21-year-old Florida native and first-round pick in the 2012 MLB Draft made his debut for Houston during tonight’s 2-1 loss to Oakland. For a rookie going up against one of the best offenses in the majors, he didn’t do bad by any stretch of the imagination: 4.2 IP, three hits, one earned run, three walks, and five strikeouts in a no-decision is nothing to scoff at in a debut.

However, no matter how well McCullers did during his start – well, outside of a perfect game where he struck every batter out on three pitches – the most awesome thing he did was bust out a pair of awesome Batman cleats. Here they are from up close:

Sadly the Astros and the Mets don’t play each other this year, so we’re not getting McCullers and his Batman cleats against New York ace Matt Harvey, who is affectionately known as “The Dark Knight.” Hopefully this matchup happens in 2016.
