The NHL’s off-season is coming to a close, with teams set to begin training camp later this week and exhibition games beginning Sunday. It hasn’t been the greatest off-season for the league from a public relations standpoint, but thanks to Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban, the season can begin on a high note in that regard.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Subban will donate $10 million to Montreal Children’s Hospital. The money will be dispersed over a seven-year span.

The hospital says this is the biggest philanthropic donation ever given by an athlete in Canada. Because of Subban’s generosity, the atrium in the hospital was named after the Habs superstar. He’ll also be a spokesperson for fundraising events by Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation. The partnership will also see the creation of a fund to help families hurt financially by a child’s illness.

Here is a look at the hospital’s modified atrium bearing his name.

The 26-year old alternate captain signed an eight-year, $72 million contract with Montreal last August. He is coming off what was arguably his best season statistically, scoring 60 points and finishing with a career-best +/- of plus 21.
