Watch Albany Take Down Cornell In Lacrosse With This Insane Goalie Goal

Odds are you didn’t know that the Division I Men’s Lacrosse Tournament began this weekend. That’s perfectly fine, and while you probably don’t have a rooting interest, we would like to suggest that you at least become a fan of Albany goalie Blaze Riorden. There are several reasons why:

  1. His name is “Blaze Riorden,” which is outstanding.
  2. He is listed at 6’0, 215 lbs., and therefore is a large individual. You can even argue that he looks a little bigger than his listed size.
  3. He anchors one of the best defenses in college lax, as the Great Danes allow 9.76 goals per game (good for 25th nationally).
  4. He scored a goal today. It helped unseeded Albany take down 8-seed Cornell. It was spectacular.

Riorden saved a shot late in the third quarter of today’s game, and since it was near the end of the period and he was playing with house money, he took off. The junior went the length of the field (in sweatpants), busts out a nasty spin move, fools a defender with a stick fake and rips a shot that beats Cornell’s netminder. His teammates reacted like it was the best thing ever, because let’s face it, it was.
