Pat Venditte Is Apparently The World’s First ‘Amphibious’ Pitcher

Pat Venditte, who made his Major League debut with the Oakland Athletics last Sunday, can pitch both right- and left-handed… and apparently underwater, too. This headline from the East Oregonian, a newspaper that circulates in the small town of Pendleton, Oregon, describes the switch-pitcher as “amphibious,” instead of the correct term, ambidextrous.

These newspaper editors aren’t the first to confuse the two terms: A North Carolina State basketball player used amphibious to describe himself as left and right-handed. We forgive you, small paper in Oregon.
