One of the underrated parts of team success is that it brings out some crazy people who just want to support their team. One such person has arrived on BottleSpot, a site meant for trading and selling booze. Here is the ad.
This individual would like four lower level Panthers tickets in exchange for a bottle of whiskey. That sounds crazy, right? Who would give up four tickets to the hottest team in the league for a bottle of whiskey? It better be some good whiskey. Well… uh… a 2014 Old Rip Van Winkle “Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve” 20-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon is worth one thousand dollars a bottle. Yes, this bottle of whiskey is worth $1,000. Now the narrative flips and you wonder what moron would give up a ludicrous collector’s whiskey for something as silly as tickets to a football game. To be fair, the exchange rate is about even. Panthers tickets for the January 3 Week 17 game against the Bucs start at about $200 in the lower level and are frequently higher in price, some ranging close to $800. Four of those tickets could reasonably be more than $1,000 when all is said and done. (As a side note, good lord NFL games are expensive. No wonder people would rather just watch them on TV nowadays.)
Still, do you wanna be the guy who gives up a bottle of extremely rare whiskey for three hours on Sunday (maybe more for tailgating and traffic)? What if you give up this rare bottle and you witness the first loss? You won’t have anything to drown your sorrows in.
