Last year’s “Florist City Collection” for John Wall and Damian Lillard is getting an update. This time adidas will outfit the new signature lines of the point guards in the spring-time hues we’ve come to love in what we hope continues as an annual rite of spring. Both signature kicks — the D Lillard 1 and J Wall 1 — get a floral print splash commemorating the city of each All-star and the incoming sun we don’t mind encroaching on our winter.
The “Rose City” edition of the D Lillard 1 recognizes the famous Portland rose gardens (that was the name of the arena where Lillard played before it became the Moda Center). They’ve got an all-red upper with the rose print TECHFIT bootie. “DAME” is outlined in green on the tongue, like the stem of the rose, and a raindrop splatter pattern any Portland denizen can understand.
There’s also a “4 Bar Friday” about the “Rose City” in the sockliner.
For John Wall, it’s all about the cherry blossoms. Those gorgeous white flowers that fringe the perimeter of the tidal basin on Washington DC’s National Mall and only bloom during that short window in April for the Cherry Blossom Festival also adorn the “Cherry Blossom” J Wall 1. A cherry blossom print on the iconic three stripes, toe and tongue juxtaposes cherry trim and a white and upper designed to replicate the look of the monuments that dominate the lanscape of the U.S. Capital.
