The beef between JaVale McGee and Shaquille O’Neal was an ugly war of words between the Warriors reserve center and the Hall of Famer turned television analyst, but it had seemingly come to an end when their mothers got involved and called for a stop to the squabble. The bad feelings between the two started when Shaq continuously poked fun at McGee during TNT’s ‘Shaqtin’ A Fool’ segments, causing McGee to finally snap and fire back at O’Neal.
We haven’t heard much from either since early March after Shaq pledged to never talk about McGee again, but ahead of Game 1 of the NBA Finals, McGee decided to have a bit of petty fun with his adversary.
McGee arrived at Oracle Arena on Thursday for the first NBA Finals game of his career with some special headgear in the form of an old school Shaq hat.

Now, while it’s a tremendous retro hat, one has to assume that there’s some added motivation for McGee to wear that on the night of the start of the Finals. Much of Shaq’s criticism of McGee was around him making stupid mistakes, but now McGee finds himself as a contributor to the favorite to win the NBA Finals.
The hat seems to be a bit of a message to Shaq that he’s made it despite being the goofy regular on “Shaqtin'” that was a regular target of O’Neal’s jokes.
