HAVE TWO ICE CREAMS AND EAT THEM TOO!
Just a reminder for you guys tonight, I’ll be hosting the UFC 145 Live Thread over at WithLeather, with special guest and UFC.com writer/fighter Danny Boy Downes, starting at 7 pm PT.
I know this isn’t movie related, but having live blogged both the Oscars and the UFC, I will say that I wish the Oscars could borrow some of the UFC’s production values. For one, I think Oscar winners should have handlers trying to put a t-shirt with all their sponsors on it on them on the way to the podium before the victory speech. Colin Firth could give a shout out to Toyo Tires while wearing a Jesus Didn’t Tap baseball cap. Think of how much money they’re leaving on the table not having sponsors! I’d also like to see the “hype reel” concept applied to the Academy Awards. Perhaps just a nice little short video where, say, Amy Adams hypes up her impending Best Actress showdown with Meryl Streep. “Well, you know Meryl Streep is a great champion, I have nothing but respect for Meryl Streep. In fact, watching Meryl Streep on TV when I was a little girl was the reason why I got into this game in the first place. But now, Meryl Streep is standing between me and that trophy, and this Sunday night I’m going to rip Meryl Streep’s spine out her asshole and choke her to death with it. It’s not personal, it’s business. I’m a martial artist. And come this Sunday night, Meryl Streep’s asshole will be my canvas.”
