Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel is about the relationship between a stern task master and his ethnic boy servant with a fake mustache, so in that sense, it’s right up my alley. In the first of two new clips, Bellman extraordinaire Ralph Fiennes meets his lobby boy, Zero, played by Tony Revolori. In a shocking twist, the entire scene consists of a long tracking shot following Fiennes as he compiles a bullet-pointed list. It’s Wes Anderson like you’ve never seen him before! Sorry, that was a typo. What I meant to say was “It’s Wes Anderson. Like you’ve never seen him before?” See, punctuation matters.

THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL recounts the adventures of Gustave H, a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel between the wars, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend. The story involves the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting and the battle for an enormous family fortune—all against the backdrop of a suddenly and dramatically changing Continent.

As soon as I finished watching this, I made a deadpan expression and turned swiftly toward an old man poking his head out the center window of a double decker bus. Opens March 7th.
