‘Star Trek’ Actors Try Out The New VR Game, ‘Star Trek: Bridge Crew’

Everybody who loves Star Trek has wanted to be on the bridge. But, unless you’ve been to Las Vegas or raided Paramount’s dumpster, that was more or less impossible. At least until now, with Oculus Rift and Ubisoft’s new VR game, Star Trek: Bridge Crew. And they even got a few bridge crew members to play it.

Bridge Crew is a multiplayer VR game where you sit in a chair and try not to get the USS Aegis blown out of the sky. Yes, sorry, you don’t start with the Enterprise, although we’re sure sooner or later you’ll get a seat in the classic bridges of yore. You’ll manage your panel, work with your teammates, listen to your captain, and hopefully seek out new life forms and new civilizations that aren’t too hostile.

Mostly, if you’re a fan, it’s just exciting to see LeVar Burton be so incredibly excited about this game. Jeri Ryan and Karl Urban also weigh in, and they’re having just as much fun. It seems to be somewhat like FTL and other sims, but with a multiplayer bent and, of course, Star Trek. There’s not a release date yet, but as the 50th anniversary of the show is this year, and VR platforms need games, it’ll likely debut before the year is out.
