‘Five Nights At Freddy’s’ Creator Apologizes For Rushing The Latest In The Series Out Too Early

The latest game in the Five Nights at Freddy’s series arrived sooner than fans were expecting. FNAF World, which replaces the jump scares of previous Freddy’s games with turn-based RPG battles, was supposed to be released on February 19, but the series’ unpredictable creator Scott Cawthon decided to drop the game yesterday instead. These kind of “surprise” early releases have become almost a tradition for the Freddy’s series, but this time the surprise came at a cost.

Simply put, FNAF World isn’t really done. You can play through the whole game, but it’s missing a ton of basic features you’d expect from an RPG. Fans aren’t happy, and Cawton has issued an apology on the FNAF World Steam page and vowed to put things right. Here’s the statement

“This isn’t exactly an announcement that I’m enjoying writing, but it’s one that I feel I owe to the community. You know, I’ve been accused of rushing my games ever since FNaF 1, but I’ve never felt that I’d released a game too early…until now.

There are a lot of features that this game should have had before release, features that I was told about, but ignored and didn’t implement. Features such as being able to see what abilities do during battle, or being able to see a stats page for your characters. These are features that any good RPG would have.

I got too eager to show the things that were finished, that I neglected to pay attention to the things that weren’t. I’m going to fix this, and I’ll be updated the game with these features in the coming weeks.

So I say this to a community that I’ve enjoyed and respected for over a year and a half now – I’m sorry. I will continue to add features to the game and make it right.”

Well, you definitely have to give Cawthon points for being forthright about the situation. FNAF World is the fifth Freddy’s game Cawthon has developed and released within the span of a year and a half. Hopefully this situation convinces him to slow down a bit, but I have my doubts about that.
