Dana Carvey has performed his moving ballad “Choppin' Broccoli” (a.k.a. “The Lady I Know”) hundreds of times, but it finally got the orchestral treatment it deserves on last night's “Tonight Show.”
Carvey reprised his old “SNL” standard with the help of a very dramatic string section, and results were expectedly gorgeous. Hard to believe a song about making up lyrics can sound fresh and hilarious 28 years later, but oh, it does.
