‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special gets a title, will focus on the return of River Song

It”s almost Christmas which means only one thing for fans of “Doctor Who.” The annual Christmas special! Fans already knew River Song would be returning to the show for the holidays, but in what capacity remained shrouded in secrecy…until now.

The BBC has announced the title of the holiday episode and for fans* of River Song (Alex Kingston), it truly is the best Christmas ever. “The Husbands of River Song” airs on Christmas Day. There is no word yet on where in the timeline of their relationship this initial meeting between River and Twelve will fall for the Doctor. However, based on the wording of the synopsis, this is River's first run-in with husband wearing this face. When you're in love with a regenerating Time Lord, marriage gets…complicated.

*For her detractors however, perhaps it is the worst Christmas ever?

In the image below, a very dashingly dressed River Song brandishes what looks like a Sonic Knife at her opponent, Baymax's angry older cousin. Next to her, the Doctor stands at the ready with is Sonic SCREWDRIVER. A refreshing sight indeed for those tired of the Sonic Sunglasses.
