‘Inherent Vice’ announced as Centerpiece Gala for 2014 AFI Fest

And the other shoe drops on AFI Fest's major galas as Paul Thomas Anderson's “Inherent Vice” has been announced as this year's centerpiece. The film will be presented at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood on Nov. 8, and the festival will also feature a conversation with Paul Thomas Anderson.

The film premiered at the New York Film Festival last week to mixed-to-positive reviews.

As previously reported, the TCL Chinese IMAX theater is off the table for AFI Fest this year as “Interstellar's” residence there has pushed all major galas to either the Dolby Theater or the Egyptian.

J.C. Chandor's “A Most Violent Year” will open the fest on Nov. 6. Bennett Miller's “Foxcatcher” will close it out on Nov. 13. Rupert Wyatt's “The Gambler” was also announced as a world premiere, set for Nov. 10.
