The mind behind the “Harry Potter” mega-franchise, J.K. Rowling, turns 50 on Friday. Considering the book series has sold 450 million copies and has been translated into 73 languages, it should come as no surprise that the author has more than a few fans on social media wishing her a happy birthday.
Rowling, who is worth an estimated $1 billion, offered up her appreciation to her admirers as well as some witticisms about hitting the milestone.
Thank you so much to everyone wishing Harry and me a happy birthday! I'm having a wonderful time in the sun with family and friends. xxxxx

I was going to post a picture of our West Highland Terrier commiserating with me early this morning because in dog years I'm dead.

Since the conclusion of the “Harry Potter” books, Rowling has turned her focus toward creating material for adults. Her next book, “Career of Evil” (which she publishes under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith) is slated for an October 2015 release.
