Pros and cons: ‘Wonder Woman’s’ female director and the pressure to succeed

Our new Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot, recently got to talking about what it was like to work with a female director on her solo film and how different it was from working with male directors. Donna Dickens and Jill Pantozzi talk about the difference when it comes to female-led films and comic books.

From an early age we are conditioned to consider some things “for girls” and some things “for boys,” but it's women who are told they should enjoy all entertainment regardless of who it's aimed at. Is that necessary? Should only women work on female-focused projects? Was it imperative for a woman to tell Wonder Woman's story? We talk about that, female directors' opportunities when it comes to blockbusters, and Jill's left to ponder some more as Donna heads off to check out Wonder Woman costumes and more at San Diego Comic-Con.
