‘The Walking Dead’ creator swears this one character is safe from death

Part of the fun – or trepidation, depending on your tolerance for anxiety – of being a “Walking Dead” fan is knowing anyone can die. Taking a page from the comic book source material, the AMC series hasn”t been shy about killing off major characters, sometimes with no warning.

With every death, fan fear ratchets up a notch. After all, some of these characters have been around since Season One. How much longer can their luck hold out? During a panel at NYCC, “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman revealed one character who is safe.

Sorry Daryl fans, you might have to riot after all.

“The Carol that”s in the comic was my attempt to show just how broken an individual can become from the zombie apocalypse. The Carol in the show, which is a much better character let”s be honest, actually is made stronger by all the more horrible things that happen to her in the show. Killing her would definitely not…we can”t do that.”

Considering Carol has had one of the most drastic character arcs in the series, this seems legit. Rick is still operating from a place of anger, Glenn is still a good guy at heart, and Daryl is getting less and less willing to kill strangers on sight. The whole world could burn and Carol would emerge, eating cookies and wearing a cardigan.

Be sure to check out the whole panel on Vulture, including whether or not the villainous Negan could be on the horizon.
