“True Detective” to compete for Emmy's best series drama award, not best miniseries
HBO”s decision will likely pit “True Detective” vs. “Breaking Bad” in one of the most competitive categories. As an anthology series, “True Detective” could”ve easily competed as a miniseries, where its main competition would”ve been “American Horror Story.” But, as Deadline points out, “winning a drama series Emmy has a cachet to it.”
