In the earlier trailers for “The Avengers,” we caught glimpses of what appeared to be team mates Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) fighting each other, but in this new clip there’s no doubt about it.
Sensitive environmentalists may want to avoid this clip of the two super-powered heroes tearing into each other — and their mountainous, densely forested surroundings. Thor’s got his hammer, and Iron Man has the laser blasts, but they also get a little more old school in their fighting methods (including some hilariously timed head-butts). And, oh yeah — they can both fly, adding a little “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” feel to the short scene. As to why they’re fighting, we’ll have to wait and see. Is the evil Loki (Tom Hiddleston) controlling Thor? Or are they just settling their differences the old-fashioned way? Don’t try this at home, kids.
The other Avengers include Captain America (Chris Evans), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and S.H.I.E.L.D. bigwig Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). You can see them all fight Loki and the invading alien hordes when “The Avengers” opens nationwide May 4.
