Watch: Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Willem Dafoe talk ‘John Carter’

The long in-the-works “John Carter,” based on the writing of Edgar Rice Burroughs, is finally hitting screens early next year, and HitFix caught up with some of the cast members at last week’s Disney D23 expo in Anaheim.

Stars Taylor Kitsch (“Friday Night Lights”), Lynn Collins (“X-Men Origins: Wolverine”) and Willem Dafoe discuss the film’s sci-fi trappings, the Rice books and just how scantily clad Collins will be in the film. The interviews were conducted by Jenna Busch.

Director Andrew Stanton, also interviewed in the clip, is known for his work on CG-animated Pixar films like “Finding Nemo,” but the cast of “Carter” thinks he was a great choice to helm the film’s fantasy combo of live-action and CG action. Dafoe, who was a voice in “Nemo,” commented on the director’s skill at making the stars feel comfortable even though the film is filled with effects that could only be added after principal photography.

“John Carter” will be released nationwide March 9, 2012.
