In a move that’s sure to make your uncle a little misty-eyed, Bruce Springsteen hopped on stage during an encore at a Brian Wilson concert last night and performed with the Beach Boys legend.
Wilson was in the middle of performing a 34-song set at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, N.J. that included cameos from fellow Beach Boys Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin when Jersey’s favorite son decided to lend a hand. The Boss sang harmonies on “Barbara Ann” before whipping out a guitar for “Surfin’ USA.”
The obvious takeaway from Springsteen coming to the stage is that he’s just as big a fan of Wilson’s work as the rest of us, but what if it’s meant to serve as a warning? This is Bruce’s turf, after all. If anyone is going to blow the lid off a room full of over-40 fans in the Garden State, it’s going to be The Boss.
After Springsteen left the stage, Wilson closed the set with “Fun, Fun, Fun” and “Love and Mercy.”
