Lady Gaga got good and soaked at the annual Polar Plunge in Chicago, alongside her fiancé and fellow actor Taylor Kinney. The singer and American Horror Story: Hotel Golden Globe winner jumped into a freezing Lake Michigan in order to raise money for the Special Olympics. It was her second time participating, and this year other participants included not only Chicago Fire actor Kinney but news anchor Al Roker as well.
The pop star and recent Tony Bennett collaborator posted a few pictures on Instagram after the plunge in which she was all smiles despite the cold temperatures and icy water. In one, she admits that Taylor’s shorts were freezing but that they still had a great time taking part in the yearly event.
Fortunately, the weather on Sunday in Chicago was a bit warmer than in some past years with the temperature hitting the 40 degree range. Gaga and Kinney can thank El Niño for the lack of a freezing day in the water. Other cast members from the Chicago franchise (Police and Fire) also participated, but no word on whether their “shorts were cold” or not. A total amount of money raised has not been confirmed as of yet, but Gaga’s participation for the second year in a row surely boosted the profile of the cause and added a few more donations than usual.
