Leonard Cohen Has Died At 82

Leonard Cohen, beloved singer, musician, and songwriter, has passed away at the age of 82. According to the official statement on his Facebook page,

It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away.
We have lost one of music’s most revered and prolific visionaries.

A memorial will take place in Los Angeles at a later date. The family requests privacy during their time of grief.

Cohen’s illustrious career spanned five decades and made an indelible impact on American music. His 14th and final album, You Want It Darker, was proof of a still vital musician, albeit one at the waning of his career. The impact that Cohen had on art cannot be understated; on top of his contributions in music, Cohen also wrote three volumes of poetry and write two novels. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008 and received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award in 2010, on top of a myriad of other honors that he collected over the course of his career.

Cohen’s music was full of an eloquent darkness that spoke to millions of listeners, and there is no doubt that we have lost a truly great man.
