Mia X is a legend. The first lady of No Limit was also the first signee, meaning Master P thought enough of her to be the foundation on which he’d build his empire. Now, the New Orleans legend finds herself involved in a different kind of fight, no one should have to go through — cancer.
For those that don’t know, earlier this year Mia told the world she’s been diagnosed with uterine cancer. While every type of cancer is serious, uterine is certainly one of the most deadly with the lowest survival rate. But you don’t need me to tell you that, as her beautiful Instagram post details her experience with getting treatment, moments of despair, and ultimately the hope she has that she’ll be one of the few to survive:
Rather than wallow in her situation, she’s doing what she can to bring attention to the affliction in hope of finding a cure. The sad thing about human beings is that we don’t always notice bad things until they happen to someone close to us or someone famous. Maybe it’s more indicative of our society rather than the human condition. But maybe that’s for someone smarter than me to determine.
I lost my mom to breast cancer so I’ve seen this fight up close and personal. It sucks. But it’s made a lot easier when you have people close to you supporting you at every step. If you’re a fan of Mia or just a fan of people, you should visit her Instagram page and just take a look at how she’s chronicling her journey and the warm thoughts and well-wishes she’s gotten from friends and family. Send her your prayers and send her your love.
