Say what you will about Taylor Swift, but she’s never been shy about opening up her pocketbook. Last year, she donated a sizeable $50,000 to help pay for a young fan’s leukemia treatment. She’s also contributed $1 million for Louisiana flood relief and $250,000 to assist fellow pop star Kesha with her legal battles.

Now the 1989 singer has contributed $5,000 to a GoFundMe campaign raising money to help cover a fan’s family cover medical and funeral expenses following 18-year-old Katie Beth Carter’s death in a car crash during Labor Day weekend. On Friday, Carter’s sister, Kimi, shared the message accompanying the donation via Instagram.

“Kimi, No words could express how sorry I am for your loss,” Swift said. “I know that you will keep Katie’s memory alive. Please know how much I am thinking of you and saying a prayer for your family. All my love, Taylor.”

Naturally, Kimi was pleasantly surprised by the contribution, writing in the caption “this…… I cannot believe this at all….. thank you so much, Taylor…. me and my sister are smiling so hard…”

It’s nice to see Swift isn’t too distracted by her recent break-up with Tom Hiddleston and Calvin Harris’ comments about their split to make kind gestures like this. Her love life may be in shambles, but that’s not stopping her from living her best life.
