NBC Strongly Hints That Megyn Kelly’s First Interview Will Be With Vladimir Putin

It’s been a few months since Megyn Kelly left Fox News for a ‘Triple role’ at NBC, but it appears she’s about to make her return to news in spectacular fashion. According to a Page Six report, it’s becoming increasing possible that Kellys’ first appearance on NBC will be with an interview of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The report states that NBC News chairman Andy Lack has been in Russia this week, and he’s trying to land “the biggest get on the planet.” While NBC has strongly hinted that the interview could be the jumping-off point for Kelly’s time with them, sources tell Page Six the talk doesn’t have Kelly’s name on it … yet. The biggest question will be whether Kelly snags the elusive sit down with Putin, or if Matt Lauer or Lester Holt might swoop in and “steal” it from the new girl.

Kelly bid farewell from Fox News back in January with an emotional goodbye but wasn’t immediately allowed (per her contract) to start working for NBC until recently. Kelly is expected to eventually host her own daytime news and discussion program as well as anchor an in-depth Sunday night magazine show. She’ll also take regular part in the network’s special political programming and other big-event coverage.
