Melania Trump’s Website Has Been Curiously Scrubbed Amid Questions About Her Degree

On the first night of the Republican National Convention last week, Melania Trump attempted to humanize her husband, Donald Trump, with a speech that appeared to have key parts lifted from Michelle Obama’s 2008 DNC speech. After likely hoping that the Democratic National Convention would take the heat off her for a while, several media publications raised questions about whether Trump graduated from a university in her native country of Slovenia as she claims she did on her website. And now that website has disappeared.

According to the Huffington Post, Melania Trump’s website biography said that she earned a degree in design and architecture “at University in Slovenia.” However, a biography about her claims that she exaggerated her educational credentials:

Embellishing Trump’s educational achievements in her online biography “was almost certainly done in consultation with Trump and his advisors, as they were desperate to give off the impression that the Slovenian model was not just beautiful, but also smart and well-educated,” according to Melania Trump: The Inside Story, an unauthorized biography of the potential first lady.

The New York Time’s report also links to articles about Melania in the New Yorker,, GQ, and in their own publication. Al reports said that she dropped out after a year to begin modeling.

The Huffington Post was the first to notice that Melania’s website had been deleted, and that her URL redirects to the Trump Organization’s website. Melania provided an explanation on Twitter as to why the website had been scrubbed.

This is the second time in as many weeks that the potential future First Lady has met scandal. While this incident will probably not be as controversial as the plagiarized RNC speech, it’ll still be interesting to see if someone steps up to take the blame like Meredith McIver did last week.

Here’s a screenshot of what Melania’s site looked like.
