President Obama Is So ‘Tired’ Of Talking About Donald Trump He Won’t Say His Name

Over a year has elapsed since Donald Trump descended a Trump Tower escalator to the tune of Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World.” He then announced his presidency while condemning Mexico for sending drug dealers and rapists to the United States. This delivered the very first Trump campaign controversy, which saw the real estate mogul explaining his immigration stance to a bewildered Don Lemon while insisting, “Somebody’s doing the raping.” Since then, many Trump mini-scandals have landed without pause.

There really are too many instances to count. Every day, a new set of remarks shocks the nation afresh, and Trump fatigue has set in even for some of his fans. Trump doesn’t know how to take a day off, and it shows. One person who is not a fan happens to be President Obama, and he is most definitely exhausted with the subject. Obama, who endorsed Hillary Clinton, is so weary of Trump that he won’t even say the guy’s name. Here, the president stepped away from his Martha’s Vineyard vacation to speak at a Democratic National Committee fundraiser:

“Frankly, I’m tired of talking about her opponent. I don’t have to make the case against her opponent because every time he talks, he makes the case against his own candidacy.”

Obama did, however, acknowledge that he didn’t need to convince anyone in the room. He also asked the audience to resist complacency, for there are only 80 or so more days until the general election: “If we are not running scared until the day after the election, we are going to be making a grave mistake.” He reminded voters of the “unrelenting negative campaign” that the other side is running, and he urged Clinton supporters to be “aggressive.” Anything could happen, polls could shift, and swing states could swing. And there will surely be more controversy on the way, so a little publicity breather couldn’t hurt a certain candidate.
