Hundreds Of SAT Questions Have Been Leaked In An Enormous Security Breach

As organizations are getting hacked left and right, won’t somebody please think of the children? Unfortunately, that just happened. Reuters reports that The College Board, the organization that deals with creating and distributing the SAT test, suffered a “massive” security breach that exposed a number of questions.

Only a few months after The College Board unveiled the new SAT in March, a person close to the group distributed hundreds of questions from the newly designed exam. It’s not known whether the questions fell into the hands of those looking to exploit the questions for their own gain, but testing specialists said this security lapse by the organization doesn’t look good on their part. Nor should it.

The SATs are of the utmost importance for the College Board, since they help give universities insight into prospective students (and, of course, cause stress levels to skyrocket). Representatives for the College Board said they are investigating the breach, but this is not the first time the organization has been a target:

“As Reuters reported in March, the College Board has been unable to prevent foreign test-preparation operators from giving their clients an advance look at exam questions. Those problems were primarily a result of the organization’s reuse of previously administered exams. This breakdown involves test items that have never been given.”

And the College Board is receiving pressure left and right, from universities and groups to get their security beefed up. Gone are the days where you had to worry about Chris Evans and a group of misfits stealing the test.
