Watch This High School Football Player Get His Head Bashed With His Own Helmet

In an early contender for dirtiest play in a game at any level this season, a New Jersey high school football player can be seen in the above video tearing off his opponents helmet and then using it to smash his head in.

The play happened in the second quarter of a game between Immaculata and Linden, with a Linden defensive linemen (who’s identity is being withheld because he is believed to be a minor) committing the brutally violent penalty against an Immaculata offensive linemen.

The Immaculata player was brought to a local hospital and treated for a head contusion that required 10 stitches.

The officials on the play had penalized the Linden player for unsportsmanlike conduct, but did not throw him out of the game. Immaculata Athletic Director Tom Gambino believes the officials must not have seen the incident in full. Via mycentraljersey.com:

“Obviously this is very serious,” Gambino said. “When you see it on film, it’s like ‘oh my God.’ Obviously the officials didn’t see it. If he did, I’m sure he would have walked the kid to the Linden sideline. These are good guys (officials). That’s not the point here. It’s hard to believe they didn’t see it. But, come on. If you see that, you have to think that he would have been led off the field.”

Linden Police Capt. James Sarnicki says that the Linden PD’s Juvenile Bureau is currently investigating the incident, and Gambino told mycentraljersey that Immaculata was “waiting for answers” before deciding whether or not to pursue criminal charges.
