Apple Stokes Excitement For The iPhone 7 By Reviving Their Long Dormant Twitter Account

Most tech companies exist in a professional realm where excitement and crazed communities don’t exactly pop up that often. Consumers don’t go nuts when Microsoft decides to join a social media service or when rumblings of new products come down the pike. There is excitement, but it’s not really the kind of stuff that spills out into the general public. Apple, on the other hand, has always had communities that treat every move the company does like a hidden codex that contains the secret to the universe.

The latest power move by Apple that has fans excited is that they finally have an official Twitter account now. Yes, this finally happened, says Mashable. The handle @Apple has existed since 2011, but it’s been just an empty account with an egg avatar the whole time. Sure, there have been other Apple Twitter accounts for stuff like the AppStore, for support and whatnot, but never one that was just for the company.

Now, with an iPhone event coming in the next week, Apple has finally taken up space on Twitter and @Apple has a profile with a checkmark. There has yet to be a single tweet from the account yet. What could it all mean? Mashable believes that it’ll be for a Twitter live stream of the Wednesday iPhone event as Twitter has been pushing their new live streaming features pretty hardcore. This tweet explains everything.

Apple is expected to be formally announcing the iPhone 7 this week and possibly even releasing it as well.
