So, Sony’s next portable gaming console, the PS Vita, debuted in Japan…and pretty much immediately got buried under YouTube videos showing all sorts of problems, according to Kotaku:
- Occasionally, the system freezes during a required update and won’t shut off.
- Or it refuses to boot in the first place.
- If that isn’t quite enough, there are dozens of videos of owners futilely slapping their fingers against the touchscreen trying to get the menus to scroll.
- And in case that wasn’t enough, apparently the screen “stains” and spots quickly, which may explain why the touchscreen has all the responsiveness of a block of ice.
This is, of course, not to imply that Sony won’t have these issues fixed by the time the Vita comes to the US in early 2012. We’re sure they’ll have the supply chain up to speed by then. Then they’ll just have to deal with skeptical developers and being on a cellular network even professional journalists can’t hide their contempt for.
Piece of cake!
